Matthew Henderson
I'm Matt and from Helensburgh. I'm 21-years old and am currently completing a degree in Sociology at the University of Edinburgh. I’m easy-going, enthusiastic and good humoured.
When I first heard about the Bahati project I was amazed and impressed. Bobbie, Olly and Lyndsey clearly worked very hard but were rewarded with the satisfaction of making a real difference to the lives of the people of Bahati, providing sustainable and affordable healthcare at a grassroots level; it was also evident that they had a lot of fun in the process!
When I heard about the Katoto Crèche initiative I saw an opportunity to contribute to making a difference myself. The initiative will hopefully address the lack of quality childcare in Bahati, whilst providing education to avoid some of the ailments that have affected the youngsters, such as rickets and pneumonia, encouraging awareness of nutrition to enable youngsters to grow up to be fit and strong, and providing a space in which the kids can play and be happy! I’m really looking forward to getting out there and experiencing life in an incredible country like Kenya.
